Do you ever wish you could have your very own dance photo shoot from Jordan Matter or Damien Tierney to show off dance pics on your Instagram? Don’t worry, you’re not the only one! Dance photoshoots are an amazing way to capture beautiful moments and memories to keep forever, but they can be very expensive! This blog is all about how you can have your very own dance photoshoot at home with nothing but a camera or phone!
Choose poses that you think will look beautiful or interesting in a still shot. Pick a couple of your best skills to capture the best technique! Remember not every shot has to be a super tricky skill, sometimes keeping it simple is better! To make it easier for your photographer start by holding still poses, then if you’re feeling confident you can try to get some action shots of jumps or leaps!
You don’t need the most expensive camera in the world to get some amazing photos. These days phone cameras have great quality, so you could even borrow your parents’ phone, or your own to get the perfect shot! If you’re trying to take action shots it can be easier to take a video and screenshot the perfect moment. If you’re using a real camera, play around with the flash and lighting to get some cool effects.
Picking out some cool locations for your shots will make your photos stand out and complete the look! Depending on what vibe you’re going for, you could choose some outdoor locations like the beach, your local park or in your local town/city. If you want to keep it indoors you can look for a blank white wall, a wall with a pop of colour, or even use some furniture and windows in your photos to make them super interesting.
Costumes and props can really enhance the whole aesthetic of a photo. If you have dance costumes you can wear them, or you can just play around with clothes that you have at home. Try to match your outfits to your setting i.e wearing light summery clothes/costumes for a beach photoshoot.
