Today’s blog is the first in a series about getting to know a bit more about the amazing people that work here at Dance Sensations! First up is the amazing Miss Astrid, who has been a part of the Dance Sensations Family for 18 years (only Amanda and Nathan have been here longer than that!) Here at DS you will find Miss Astrid teaching a bit of everything! This year you might see her in your cheerleading classes, musical theatre classes, acro classes, minis classes or ballet classes. In the past however you might have found her in a Jazz, tap or contemporary class as well! Read on below to learn a bit more about Miss Astrid.
I work in a few areas with my DS team : I’m the cheerleading coordinator and coach at DS and I also teach various styles of dance classes here. I also do some small admin tasks and organise our costuming for concert!
I first started dancing when I was two and a half years old doing tap! I danced for 14 years doing almost every style of dance and then started assistant teaching in 2014. By 2016 I had my own classes to teach!
My favourite style of dance is cheerleading because it involves a lot of teamwork it’s very creative and fun. I also love that there are so many aspects to a cheerleading routine, such as tumbling, stunting and choreography!
I love teaching the kids new skills and watching them grow and learn. Seeing them create new friendships and work together with the DS team while having fun makes me so happy. I feel so lucky to have grown up with my DS family!
I love going to the gym, swimming and sleeping as well as goong to the beach in summer! I have a certificate three and sport and rec and at the moment I’m doing a certificate three in early childhood care.
We hope you’ve learnt something new about Miss Astrid and how she fits into our DS team! If you want to read more about our faculty, teacher training and DS team, check out our recent blog post on Dance Sensations Staff Training!
