Miss Allie works mostly within our troupe program and is the choreographer of almost all of our troupe routines! She also teaches technique classes, soloists and some of our mini dance classes! What role do you play as a part of our DS team?
I’m the creative director at Dance Sensations. I teach most of the troupes and tehcnique classes, as well as oversee part of the recreational dance program. I also teach ‘minis’ dance classes !

When did you start dancing and teaching?
At age two and a half I took my first dance class. I took a break from all styles except ballet and attended a ballet school from age 9 to 12. After a break I returned to all styles of dance and began competing in troupe at age 14! When I turned 14 I started assisting minis dance classes and became a dance teacher at 16!

What is your favourite style of dance and why?
That’s really hard because I love something about every style of dance! My favourite styles of dance would probably be contemporary and hip hop because there’s such a broad range of movement in these styles. I feel that contemporary really allows me to tell a story and emote through movement. Contemporary dance feels unique in the way that there are specific rules and techniques to every other style, and in contemporary you are free to break those rules and experiment with a more abstract way of dancing. As a dance teacher, It’s also so inspiring to see students explore new ways of moving in contemporary dance.

What do you love most about your job?
As a dance teacher I get to make really special connections with families and students. Seeing my students grow and improve as dancers brings me immeasurable joy and pride.

Besides dance, what are some of your other interests and hobbies?
Apart from being a dance teacher, some of my favourite things to do are going to the beach in summer, drinking coffee and playing with my cat Desmond! I also love to go away in the holidays and explore new towns and cities (with my best friend Miss Ciara).

That’s A Wrap!
